Training and Nutrition

The most effective and efficient way to improve your body and health is to approach your training and nutrition efforts intelligently.  A synergistic combination of resistance training, cardiovascular training and correct nutritional habits will ensure steady and consistent improvements in how you look and feel.

Of course there are literally thousands of different opinions about the best way to change your body.  And behind each opinion is a passionate person who whole heartedly believes in their own strategies and who sincerely hopes to help others by publicising and teaching them.

This site is about teaching you my philosophies on training, nutrition and mind set.  You’ll read about these in my blog articles and learn how to apply and integrate them into your life via the coaching and educational resources.

My strategies are firmly grounded in human physiology which for most people is predictable and stable – human physiology has been the same for thousands of years and is unlikely to change in our lifetime.  The effectiveness of the training and nutrition principles I teach is reinforced time and time again when I see people I help change in predictable ways.

My strategies incorporate human psychology and behaviour.  Common thought processes and behaviour patterns that I witness daily can make or break your training efforts.  Your beliefs, personal standards, rules and values are powerful predictors of your success.  Ensuring the alignment of these variables improves your ability to create the body you say you want.

I passionately advocate that proper training and nutrition strategies should never compromise good health.  Properly implemented, the correct combination of training and nutrition should never require that you deprive your body of essential nutrients, burn yourself out with excessive exercise, or experience stress from your lack of results.

The ultimate outcome using my philosophies is a great body with optimal health!

The fundamentals underlying my training and nutrition philosopies.

1.  What you see in the mirror is a reflection of your body composition.

2.  Your body composition is predominantly composed of lean muscle and body fat.  A better body (and health) comes from increasing lean muscle and decreasing body fat.

3.  The ability of your body to build muscle and burn body fat is largely determined by your metabolism.

4.  Your metabolism is the vast internal chemical “cocktail” that governs your energy production, growth, maintenance, repair and removal of wastes and toxins.

5.  Therefore your body transformation begins at a cellular level.

What this means for you is that over the long term, an increase in lean mass provides an increase in your metabolic rate. In turn, this ensures more body fat is utilised (burnt) for energy. To earn a lean and toned body you must send “messages” or “instructions” to your metabolism to build and maintain lean muscle and burn body fat.

How do I send the right instructions to my metabolism to build lean muscle and burn body fat?

Via your nutrition and training choices.

There are many different training techniques, depending on your desired outcome.  You can train for fitness, strength, flexibility, specific sports, explosive power or muscular endurance – the list is endless.  Likewise you can eat to support those particular training goals.

It is important to understand that if you want to change how your body looks you must acquire training and nutrition habits that will specifically address your goal of losing body fat and increasing lean muscle.
